Be yourself a tennis star

Monica D. There are in the whole world some hundreds of professional tennis players which are well known between us (the regular people). From those hundreds about 50 of them (men and women) are very popular in the world media. I would say: let’s forget about them (we are 100 millions times more than they are) and let’s be ourselves the tennis stars. Although “tennis” is considered a modern sport (dated somewhere 1850), the people who played were at least “wealthy” and the regular person does not have access to this sport (at beginning of the XX Century).

Adrian S.The time has changed and nowadays all people can practice this sport, even for personal health or entertainment only. With so simple rules, it is not uncommon facts that are millions of amateur tennis players around the world.

It is not really necessary to have Davidenko’s resistance or Safina’s explosion to practice tennis.

All you need is willing. One time a week, or two times a week, it is enough to feel the beauty of this sport and respect the pro tennis players in what they are doing.

Monica DIf you have kids and want to take some tennis lessons, wait until he/she is 6 or 7 years old to not force his/her spinal column.

My advice for all of you: enjoy the life, be yourself and play tennis from time to time.

In the above pictures you can see my friends: Monica David who are really enjoying the game and having fun all time when playing tennis, and Adrian Sidea who is my childhood bro’ and loves all kind of sports.

Is Justine Henin play again tennis as a PRO?

justine-henin.jpgJustine Henin (BEL) has surprised the tennis community with her retirement announce (May 14, 2008) from WTA. In June 1, 2008 she will celebrate 26 years old which is not a retirement age in this sport.

“A new future is ahead and I won’t go back on this decision.” said Justine.

But we know a lot of women tennis player which came back after the similar announcements. Only think about to the former #1 Martina Navratilova (RUS) which played tennis even in 2004 – 2005 at 48-49 years old. An earlier example is the former #1 Lindsay Davenport (USA) which will be 32 (in June 8, 2008) and she is in competition even she gave birth to a baby boy (June 2007). “Playing tennis makes me happy, which in turn helps me be a better mother and wife” said Lindsay.

Maybe we are many of us who are expected to hear something like that from Henin. I have to admit that her decision is as strong as she was on the field. “It’s the end of a wonderful adventure but it’s something I have been thinking about for a long time … I have experienced everything I could have … I have lived completely for tennis … I am relieved and proud of what I achieved”

Yes it is true. She achieved the world recognition for being #1 in WTA (she is currently 117-th week as world #1 which represents the 6th place on all time week-streak list #1WTA), with 496-107 win-loss record in singles and receive almost US$ 20 millions in prize money. Right now has an advance more than 1700 points in WTA comparing to #2 WTA Maria Sharapova (the #15 WTA has about 1700 total points-Agnes Szavay).

For many of us these statistics means nothing comparing to her ethic work, incredible athleticism and spectacular back-hand.Anyway she is the first woman in the history of professional tennis to retire from the sport while ranked No.1 in the world.

After many years it will be great to remember her as being the #1. Although she announced her retirement, we are many of us who are strongly believe that she will be back in the tennis courts and we watch her like a great tennis champion as she is.

Dinara Safina - the new tennis woman star

snap1.jpg Dinara Safina (22 years old, #17 WTA ranking) form Russia won her first title this year at Berlin in the 2008 German Tennis Open on clay.

In this tennis tournament Safina D. has won against:

Goerges J. (#113) (2-0) 1/16-final
Kanepi K. (#55) (2-0) 1/8-final
Henin J. (#1) (1-2) Quarter-final
Williams S. (#6) (1-2) Semi-final
Dementieva E. (#9) (1-2) Final

What is quite very important is the fact that from QF to Final, although she was 0-1 at sets, she remains focused and finally won the match. (all three women competitors were under #10 WTA ranking).
This year Safina shows us another woman tennis player much stronger inside and confident in her abilities.
After Berlin tournament, Safina raised 3 places in the WTA tennis ranking, being now on #14 WTA.
